Industries we service

Pests in a commercial environment are not just a nuisance. They are a hygiene risk, a liability, and in food service businesses, a compliance obligation. A single sighting of rodent activity or cockroaches in a commercial kitchen is enough to trigger a council inspection. CPH Services Gold Coast works with restaurants and cafes, hospitality venues, offices, retail, medical and allied health practices, childcare centres, schools, strata and body corporate buildings, and warehouse and industrial premises. Pest activity presents differently in different environments, and the treatment approach is tailored to each site. If your business type is not listed, call us and we will advise on the right treatment and frequency for your environment.

Pest control compliance for food businesses

Under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, Standard 3.2.2, food businesses are legally required to take all practical measures to prevent pests from entering food premises and to eradicate any pests that do enter. For high volume food service businesses such as restaurants and cafes, the recognised minimum service frequency is quarterly.

The QLD Food Act 2006 and the FSANZ Food Safety Standards are enforced jointly by Queensland Health and local government. A council inspection following a pest sighting or a customer complaint can result in immediate suspension of a food licence. Rodent droppings, live cockroaches, or evidence of infestation in a food preparation area are grounds for closure. Documented evidence of a regular, professional pest management program is one of the most important defences a food business can maintain.

Queensland Health classifies food premises as high risk places under the Medicines and Poisons (Pest Management Activities) Regulation 2021. Pest management technicians treating food businesses must hold the appropriate endorsement and must carry out treatment in accordance with an Activity Risk Management Plan for the site. CPH Services Gold Coast holds the required authorisations. In kitchen and food preparation areas, product selection focuses on targeted baits and treatments that do not contaminate food contact surfaces. Broad spectrum spray products are not used indiscriminately in food prep zones.

Rodent control and preventative programs

Rodents are among the most damaging pests a commercial premises can face. Beyond the direct risk of contamination, rodents cause structural damage through gnawing, compromise electrical wiring, and create significant liability exposure for food businesses and landlords. On the Gold Coast, the subtropical climate and the volume of food service premises create year round rodent pressure that is higher than in most other Australian cities. We provide both reactive rodent treatment for active infestations and preventative programs: regular inspection, identification of entry points and harbourage areas, appropriate baiting and monitoring, and updated recommendations at each visit.

Regulation change, March 2026: second generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs), including brodifacoum and bromadiolone, are now restricted chemicals in Queensland. Only a licensed pest management technician can legally purchase and apply these products. Self managed rodent baiting programs using SGARs are no longer compliant. Professional treatment is now the only compliant option for this class of rodenticide.

Childcare centres, medical practices and sensitive places

Under the QLD Medicines and Poisons (Pest Management Activities) Regulation 2021, childcare centres, aged care facilities and medical premises are classified as sensitive places. Pest management at sensitive places requires a licensed technician who holds the appropriate endorsement and who carries out treatment in accordance with a site specific Activity Risk Management Plan. For childcare centres in particular, treatments must be scheduled outside operating hours, products must be appropriate for environments where young children are present, and any re-entry intervals must be clearly communicated. CPH Services Gold Coast carries out regular commercial pest control for childcare centres across the Gold Coast and is familiar with the requirements of these environments.

How commercial pest control works

Initial inspection and site assessment

Every new commercial client begins with a site inspection. We assess the premises, identify existing pest activity and risk areas, review access and timing requirements, and recommend an appropriate treatment and ongoing service frequency. The inspection is the basis for an accurate estimate. We do not estimate commercial pest control without seeing the property.

Scheduled treatment

Commercial pest control is almost always carried out outside business hours or when the premises are not in active operation. This is both a WHS requirement and a practical necessity. We schedule around your business and confirm timing in advance.

Treatment approach

Internal and external inspection, targeted treatment of harbourage areas, sub-floor and roof void inspection where applicable, perimeter barrier treatment, dusting of wall cavities and voids, and vegetation management recommendations. In food service environments, product selection is specific to those areas to ensure compliance with food safety requirements.

Service advice report

After every commercial treatment we provide a written pest control service advice report: the date and address, areas inspected, pest activity observed, products applied with APVMA registration details, areas treated, and recommendations. For food businesses, this report is part of your compliance documentation and should be retained on site.

Ongoing service schedule

We recommend a frequency based on what the site requires: quarterly for food businesses and high risk environments, six monthly or annually for lower risk commercial settings. There are no lock-in contracts. We recommend the right frequency for your site, and you decide how to proceed at each service. Clients continue with us because the results meet their standard, not because they are committed to a term agreement.

Commercial pest control pricing

Commercial pest control is priced after an on-site inspection. The cost depends on the size and type of premises, the pest pressures present, the treatment required, and the service frequency recommended. We provide a clear written estimate after the inspection, and there are no charges added after the job without prior agreement. Call 1300 85 48 28 to arrange an inspection at a time that suits your operations.

Frequently asked questions

How often does a restaurant or food business need professional pest control in Queensland?
Under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (Standard 3.2.2), food businesses are required to prevent pests and eradicate any that enter. There is no single prescribed interval in the legislation, but for high volume food service businesses such as restaurants and cafes, a minimum of quarterly professional pest control is the recognised industry standard and what Queensland Health and local councils expect to see documented. Some high activity sites require more frequent treatment.
Do you provide a pest control report for food business compliance?
Yes. After every commercial treatment we provide a written pest control service advice report that records the date, the areas inspected and treated, any pest activity observed, the products applied, and our recommendations. For food businesses this report is your compliance documentation and should be kept on site. It is what a food safety auditor or council inspector will expect to see as evidence of an active pest management program.
Are you licensed to treat pest activity in food businesses and commercial kitchens?
Yes. CPH Services Gold Coast holds a pest management technician licence under the Queensland Medicines and Poisons (Pest Management Activities) Regulation 2021, including the required endorsements for treating pest activity at high risk places such as food premises. Product selection for commercial kitchen and food preparation areas is carefully managed to use only APVMA registered products appropriate for food service environments. We do not use broad spectrum spray products indiscriminately in food prep zones.
Do you treat childcare centres?
Yes. Childcare centres are classified as sensitive places under the QLD Medicines and Poisons (Pest Management Activities) Regulation 2021 and require a licensed technician with the appropriate endorsement. We carry out regular pest control for childcare centres across the Gold Coast, scheduled outside operating hours, using products appropriate for environments with young children. We are familiar with the specific requirements of these premises.
Can you set up a regular pest control program for our business?
Yes. We recommend a service frequency based on your site after the initial inspection and provide ongoing treatment on the schedule that suits your business. We do not require contracts or lock-in agreements. We recommend the right frequency for your site and you decide whether to proceed at each visit.
Do you do commercial pest control after hours?
Yes. Most commercial pest control is carried out after business hours or during periods when the premises are not occupied. We schedule around your operations and confirm timing in advance.
What pests do you treat in commercial settings?
We treat cockroaches (including German cockroach infestations), ants, spiders, rodents, wasps and silverfish across commercial premises. Termites are not covered under general pest control. We do not do termite work; if you have concerns about termite activity we will refer you to a termite specialist.
Can you treat German cockroach infestations in a commercial kitchen?
Yes. German cockroaches are among the most common and most challenging pests in commercial kitchen environments. They harbour in warm, moist areas including behind dishwashers, inside equipment motors, in wall junctions and around plumbing. A German cockroach infestation in a commercial kitchen typically requires a minimum of three treatments: an initial treatment, a follow-up at 10 to 14 days, and a third treatment 21 days after that. We use gel bait and targeted products appropriate for food service environments throughout this process.
What has changed with rodent baiting regulations in Queensland?
From March 2026, second generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs), which include products containing brodifacoum and bromadiolone, are now restricted chemicals in Queensland. Only a licensed pest management technician can legally purchase and apply these products. This means that self managed rodent baiting programs using SGARs are no longer legally compliant. If your business has been managing its own rodent program using these products, professional treatment is now the only compliant option for this class of rodenticide.
Do you offer pest control for strata and body corporate common areas?
Yes. Common areas in strata and body corporate buildings are a regular part of our commercial pest control work. We work with body corporate managers and strata committees to schedule treatment of corridors, lift lobbies, plant rooms, car parks and external common areas. Frequency is recommended based on the pest pressure of the building.
