What a standard general pest treatment includes

A general pest treatment is the visit most Gold Coast homes book once a year. It targets the three pests behind nearly every call we get: cockroaches, ants and spiders. On the day we treat the inside of the home along skirtings, behind and under appliances, wet areas and entry points, then the outside: the perimeter, eaves, weep holes, downpipes, the garage and the outdoor living areas where webs and ant trails start.

What it does not include, unless it is booked on top, is a rodent program, a flea treatment, a wasp nest, or treatment for silverfish, mosquitoes, midges or vinegar flies. We treat all of those. They are separate jobs with their own products, their own method and their own price, so we scope them with you rather than assume them. You pay for what your property actually needs and nothing it does not.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches are the most common pest control call on the Gold Coast, and the first job is working out which one you have. The large Australian cockroach wanders in from gardens, drains and mulch, and a perimeter and internal treatment deals with it well. The small German cockroach is a different problem. It breeds inside kitchens and appliances, it shrugs off supermarket sprays, and spraying it usually scatters the colony into more cupboards. German cockroach work is a structured baiting program with a follow up, and we tell you that upfront rather than pretending one visit will do it.

Ants

An ant trail across a bench is the visible part of a colony living in a wall cavity, under the slab, or in the garden bed against the house. Spraying the trail kills the workers you can see and leaves the queen producing more. We use baiting and barrier treatments the workers carry back to the nest, which is why the trail sometimes gets busier for a day or two before it stops. Ants carry a 3 month warranty. Spiders

Spider treatment is mostly about webbing spiders, the ones that build across eaves, fences, window frames and outdoor furniture. Treating the surfaces they build on, along with the outdoor lighting and insect activity that feed them, is what stops the webs coming back. Webbing spiders carry a warranty. Ground dwelling and hunting spiders such as huntsmen and wolf spiders do not, because they walk in from outside and no treatment can promise otherwise. Rodents (add on)

Rats and mice get into Gold Coast homes through gaps you would not think were big enough: a missing weep hole cover, the gap under a garage door, a roof valley. A rodent program uses locked, tamper resistant bait stations placed where the rodents travel and where children and pets cannot reach, along with entry point advice so the problem does not simply return. Fleas (add on)

Flea treatment is a licensed job, and the one most often needed for a rental exit, where the lease requires it if a pet has lived at the property. Fleas live in carpet, in couches, in pet bedding and in the shaded parts of the backyard, so a treatment that only covers the carpet is half a treatment. Warranty on flea work depends on the circumstances at the property, including whether pets are treated and whether the outdoor areas are included. Wasps (add on)

Paper wasps build under eaves, in letterboxes and on outdoor furniture, and they get aggressive in late summer when the nest is largest. Nest removal is priced and booked on top of a general treatment, because it is a separate job done with its own equipment and often at a different time of day, when the wasps are on the nest. Silverfish, mosquitoes, midges and vinegar flies (add ons)

Silverfish live in the dark, undisturbed places: wardrobes, stored boxes, bookshelves and behind wallpaper, and they need a targeted treatment of those spaces rather than a perimeter spray. Mosquitoes and midges are a Gold Coast fact of life anywhere near water and canals, and a treatment of the shaded resting surfaces around the house cuts the numbers noticeably. Vinegar flies breed in drains, fruit and bins. All of these are things we treat, scoped and booked on top of a general pest treatment, with any warranty assessed against the property. Pest control on the Gold Coast, season by season

The Gold Coast does not have a quiet season for pests. It has different pests at different times. The wet season from November to April is cockroach and ant season. Humidity and storms flood nests and push everything indoors, usually within 48 hours of heavy rain. Late summer is peak wasp activity and the time webbing spiders are most visible. The cooler, drier months from May to September are when rodents move inside looking for warmth and food, and when silverfish in stored linen and boxes become obvious.

The practical rhythm for most homes is one general pest treatment a year, timed just before the wet season, with add ons booked when a specific problem shows up. What pest control costs on the Gold Coast

There is no fixed price list, because a two bedroom unit and a five bedroom acreage home with a shed are not the same job. A minimum call-out of $145 plus GST applies to every job, one flat rate across the whole Gold Coast to Tweed Heads area. From there the estimate depends on the size of the property, the pests involved, and which add ons you want scoped in. We estimate from the details you give us in the 60 Second Quick Estimate and confirm on arrival after looking at the property. Estimates rarely change unless the situation differs significantly from what was described, and there is never any pressure.
